We Are a Force For Good

We Grew Up There.
We Have Not Forgotten.

If you grew up in Plaisance-du-Sud, you know the feeling. You know the smell of rain on the hills above Ka Gefra. You know the sound of the market on a busy morning. You know what it means to leave and carry that place with you every day, no matter how far you go.

FDPS Corp was created by Plaçantins who live abroad and refuse to watch their hometown fall further behind. We did not start this organization because we saw a need on paper. We started it because we lived it. We grew up in Plaisance. We know what is missing. And we decided to stop waiting for someone else to fix it.

How We Got Organized

For years, people from Plaisance living in the United States sent money home. To family. To neighbors. To cover school fees or fix a roof after a storm. That kind of giving is real and it matters. But individual remittances can only do so much. They do not build a water system. They do not bring electricity to a whole commune. They do not repair seven schools at once.

We asked ourselves: what if we pooled that same generosity and pointed it at the biggest problems our town faces? What if the diaspora got organized? That question became FDPS Corp.

On February 25, 2025, we filed our Articles of Incorporation in the state of Florida. FDPS Corp is a registered Florida not-for-profit corporation with a single focus: Plaisance-du-Sud.

About Plaisance-du-Sud

laisance-du-Sud sits in the Nippes department of Haiti, about 171 km from Port-au-Prince. About 27,000 people call it home. The locals have always called it the Green Heart of the Nippes, and for good reason. The land is fertile. The hills are covered in coffee and rice fields. The community has a tradition of pottery craftsmanship that stretches back generations.

This is also a place of deep historical importance. General Nicolas Geffrard, a hero of Haitian independence and a signer of the Act of 1804, is buried here at Ka Gefra. Haiti's 25th president, Sudre Dartiguenave, was born and buried here at Ka-Sud. Plaisance-du-Sud has given a lot to Haiti. Now it is time for those of us who come from there to give something back.
